My Nikon doesn't lock on the S mode. I can move it to the CL mode[one mode over] and then it locks onto all modes from there. Is this normal? I like that I can move from single shot to CL in case of action, but I'm just wondering if it is supposed to be like that?
Try pressing BKT and CSM at the same time for a few sec to clear out any customized functions. Perhaps what you are seeing is some custom setting. What you are describing sounds a bit like custom function #2.

I don't think so. That function is set to off, and its a mechanical lock/dial.
Sent them a email:
Hey KEH,
The Nikon F5 body I bought from you guys does not lock on the S mode on this dial. It doesn't really bother me, as you have to deliberately move it to have it move, but it doesn't lock on that mode. It locks on all other modes, just not the S mode. I don't really want to have to send it back to you guys because it's $80 shipping, and I got hit with $60 customs fees.
What should I regarding this? I don't mind it, I was just letting you guys know about it.
If you don't mind about the problem, try to get some discount out of your purchase. And yes it's a mechanical lock and worned out so no resetting can fix it. Mine clicks very well only because I rarely ever use any mode other than S. Actually I only moved it off the S to get to the selftimer. I never use it in any of the continuos mode.
It was a BGN-grade body so the fact that a lock doesn't work isn't a huge surprise. As long as the mode actually works I wouldn't think of it as a fault.
I bought 11 cameras from KEH this year (35mm & Medium Format) all work fine. Sounds like the no-lock (S) is a minor issue that slipped past their inspection. Drop KEH a line... maybe they'll give you a credit of some sort on your next purchase.
