Hi, Tomorrow I am going to get Nikon F5 from a APUG user. I have two lenses from my Nikon D7200.
F1.8 50mm
Normal basic lens.

Is this lens are compatible with Nikon F5. If not which lens I need to get, I am basically looking for portrait lenses...

Please guide me......

'Not really enough info about the lens from your crop sensor. 'Likely AF, likely a 'G' (gelded - no aperture ring), but 7200 is not a full size sensor (I have 7100). That's gonna be the issue - do you get vignetting from too small an image circle 'cause it was made for DX instead of FX. If you have detail on the lens, it shouldn't be hard to find out. As an alternative, the Ken Rockwell site has alot of nikon lens reviews & if you find your lens there, it would be pretty clear if it'll carry the freight.
Best of luck w/ the portraiture.

More than likely it will work just fine as long as it is a relatively modern lens. HIHO is right though we need more info about the lens to be sure.

Nikon has never made a DX 50mm lens. All of them were made for FF.

I think you are right, the only thing the OP needs to make sure of is that it's not an old non-AI lens.

This is all you need to know.

If it's a Nikon lens and doesn't say "DX" on the lens, it's a full frame lens. If it's AF, it'll work. If it's manual focus and AI/AI'd it will work on the F5.

I dont think a non AI lens would work on a D7200, which is what the OP has so he's good to go with whatever lens he has.

Probably right Ratty
