Nikon F3 ISO Ring/Exposure Compensation Issue

Hey guys,

Recently picked up a Nikon F3 from eBay and everything looks great. Camera appears to function 100% at all shutter speeds and A mode looks to be selecting the right speeds as well. However, there's a weird issue with the ISO ring and the exposure compensation selector. Whenever I lift up on the ISO dial to turn the ring, the exposure compensation selector moves as well. From what I can tell, normal function is that the exposure compensation selector should be locked in place until the button just below the markings is pressed.

If I move the EC selector to the notch just below 0, it will actually lock in place and I can select the ISO as intended. It will lock in place anywhere under 0, just not above. What I'm worried about is metering being off as soon as I put it at 0 and have my ISO selected. Wondering if this is an easy fix or if I should just return it?

Happens to mine too. Just doublecheck that both settings are correct before you shoot.

Cool, I just got the thing and am super excited to shoot with it so was bummed I might have to send it back.

The camera is an absolute pleasure to handle/use. There's so much history behind this camera and it just adds to the experience for me. I don't think the problem really had much of an effect on the exposure but then again, I'm a noob haha. I only have the one basic 50mm with it at the moment but I really enjoy the shooting with this camera. Everything about it just feels quality. I'll be shooting with this for as long as I possibly can.

I agree. The F3 is a joy to shoot with. It and my FE-2 have become my most used SLR rigs.
