I have a Vivitar 100mm lens with the blade on it but it doesn't seem to slide into the slot of my F3? I don't think it's bent but does anyone have experience with this? The lens works/fits on my N65, D3300 and N8008S. Please advise.:munch:

The F3 will take about any F mount lens there is. The must be some type of malfunction or damage somewhere. I'd begin with inspecting the camera mount carefully.

I guess you mean the non ai metering rabbit ear-like tab when you say that the lens has a blade on it? The F3 can only meter non AI lenses in stop down mode, so you have to flip the little tab up. If you have an AI or AIS lens, I don't know what is wrong. I don't have a manual handy, but this should help.

This has some info on Vivitar lenses on the F3 if you scroll down a little. Not sure if it applies to your lens.

I have seen a couple lenses with the non-AI metering tab (the OP's "blade?") flipped around, so that it is too far back for the overhang of the F3 prism. This resulted in damage to the my own F3 (see the attached picture) one time when I did not check before I attached a "new" lens. In my case, it was possible to mount the lens but it did leave marks. EDIT to add: Anyway, if you're using an F3, the rabbit ears aren't necessary and can be removed from the lens.
