Greetings,

New member and first post. I recently purchased a like new Nikon F2 off Ebay. The camera seems to work perfectly and is in 99%+ cosmetic condition. Wanting to take flash photos, I purchased a SB-800 speedlight and a AS-1 flash adaptor. The adaptor and speedlight are in great cosmetic condition. Upon attaching the AS-1 and SB-800 to my F2, I put the SB-800 in manual mode and set the flash ISO, aperture, and distance. Put the F2 in flash sync shutter speed and depressed the shutter, click, nothing? Test fired the onboard flash button and that was good. I tested the flash in all the available modes and still no flash. While leaving the flash on the AS-1 and attached to the camera, I hooked up a PC sync cord to both the camera and flash. I pressed the shutter button and bingo! The flash fired as expected. I did some google searches on bad AS-1 adaptors and could find nothing. Just wondering if anyone has experienced a bad AS-1? Was thinking about ordering another one but I'm hesitant thinking it might be the camera at fault? It would seem to me that if it were the camera at fault that it wouldn't work with the PC connection either? Any ideas?

Fixed. Was a dirty connector. Rubbing alcohol and a Q tip on both the AS-1 and SB800 did the trick.
