Hey guys,
I got an F2 recently fitted with a DP-2.
My problem is that the shutter speeds don't show properly in the viewfinder. When I set the speeds to the exact click stops on the dial, the numbers in the finder are never straight and not in the middle, only when I turn to half stops they move into the right place inside the little square. I took off the finder to see if I could line it up properly but I had no success so far, every time I put it back the same thing happens. Perhaps I should unscrew something underneath the ISO dial and then try to move the dial to the right place but I don't want to mess with it unless I know what I am doing.
Any suggestions?

Hi! Welcome to APUG.

I suggest that you send the finder, possibly along with the camera body to a qualified repair technician. One of the best in the business, Sover Wong, is there in London. He will put it right.

Does the white dot line up with the correct shutter speed on the selecting dial and when you look through the view finder the corresponding number doesnt line up?
Everything should be pretty tight and precise. Take the head of, make sure its all clean and when you clip it back on its properly clipped in. As Brad suggested its probably due for a service, whats the rest of the camera like?

Hey guys,
thanks for the replies, don't have the camera on me for a few days as I went off on a trip and took my F100 with me instead.
Yes if I remember correctly the white dot lines up on the dial but the number in the finder is off, either too high or too low.

The rest of the camera looks great and I read great things about Sover Wong but his fee would cost more than what I spent on the camera so if there is no DIY fix for it I will probably send it back to the seller.

Buy a plain prism .
Haha, to be honest this DP-2 prism is pretty bad, after using the FE & FM3a I really miss the match needle.
The red dots on top of it are also useless, basically they are invisible unless it's pitch black.

I bought a F2S new in 1973, I hated that finder from day 1. The LED thing was new "Space Age" technology. Still a great camera, use it as is or find a deal on a DP1

Yes I am thinking about that too. Might make a deal with the seller and get a new finder, will see.
Before messaging him though I want to spend more time with the camera to see if I can fix this.

This is probably the best course of action. There seem to be plenty of good used F2 available...and 100 times as many that are not-so-good. Keep looking they're a fun camera.

Yes, I really like the feel of it. It's a a good looking beast. I have big hands so it also fits nicer than the small FE.
If I have to send it back I won't give up on finding another one.
