Nikon F2 - Speed indicator string replacement in DP1 Finder - One way of replacing a broken string in the DP1 Finder

As part of my purchase of a $40 non working Nikon F2 was a bag with a disassembled DP1 Finder. It didn't look like it would work as the meter needle was sitting in the wrong place and it still doesn't work to this day! However I have persevered at finding a way to fix the broken string that turns the small indicator wheel at the same time as the main speed dial is turned. Hello!

Helge from Berlin/Germany.

Came to Nikon in the 90s with F4s/F4, stayed with until today D800e. In the years between I got into F2. Before my photographic beginnings were companied by Konica T3, T, T2 until FT-1. Still have alot of them. And a shelf full of lenses.

I happen to have 3 DP1, I recently took apart for cleaning... In all 3 I found the internal mirrors blind, blotchy, scratched. I think of replacing them - would it be an improvement or just doesn't matter? In one the mirrored vie is clear and briht, in one less... but i couldn't see significant difference in the mirrors. Is there another influence on the quality of the wiew in finder?

For one of the meters I got a new Chassis, that I will have to adjust... I hope I will understand the linked pdf  can i come back with questions about this if they appear?

Best, Helge (CF)
