Nikon F2 - shutter release

Recently got an F2 and see that there is no input for a conventional cable release. Instead, they have the Nikon ar-2 that fits over the shutter button.

Are there adapters that allow you to use a conventional cable release with a Nikon F2?

An adapter was available that looks just the AR-2 end but took a regular cable release.
