Nikon F2 film transport mechanism sounds?

I have two Nikon F2 bodies, SN 7506xxx and SN 7879xxx. The film advance mechanisms on these two sound and feel different. Are the mechanisms different or does one need service?

I can’t imagine them being different design.

But what does it sound like? Grinding? Rubbing?

Hmmm...I was afraid that someone would ask this (obviously necessary) question. The older one does not make a noise that would draw attention. The newer one (which is also new-to-me) makes a kinda wirrring or whoosh noise. Not grinding but...almost like the noise a self timer makes...and it seems to accelerate as the film advance lever angle increases away from its resting position. It sounds like a gear reduction thingy.

Sorry to ask the hard to answer question. I’d guess that one needs lubrication more than the other. But both are old so probably both do.

The service department at the dealer we bought our most recent car from has a list of names and descriptions of various sounds that cars make when they need servicing. Every time I read it, I'm unsure whether it was always intended to be serious, or whether there was some irony involved in creating it.
I offered an addition that I encountered on the internet - when the power steering fluid in a 2005 PT Cruiser is too low, the mechanism sounds like the groaning sound made by Chewbacca in the Star Wars series.
That happened to my wife's car, and that is how it sounds!

I think the sounds have more to do with the number of rolls of film put through the camera than its age.

I have encountered power steering pumps that growled when low on fluid and some that growled when filled. I assumed that the growl when filled was due to running it low for an extended period of time. If it gets worse or steering becomes hard change it.
