Anyone have any tricks or advice on how to remove the inner shell from the cassette when the shell apparently has been inserted backwards, meaning when the button on top of the cassette is depressed and the inner shell rotated clockwise the shell opening is not visible or aligning with the opening in the canister and the shell cannot be freed up to pull out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

If it has film in it turn the knob on the end in the direction to rewind the film until the knob turns freely.
That may not be what you expected to be told...
The inner shell should rotate freely in either direction from any starting position with the button down, and no film, Ive verified this with a Zeiss Contax one which is all I have to hand - the Nikon is similar.
You may have a jam if it does not turn freely e.g. dropping them is not a wonderful idea.

Thanks, Noel! I worked with it for a while and tried your advice and am happy to report that it came free. Thanks again!

Hi Loren

Welcome to the forum.
It is a normal problem with any concentric.
