My mum recently gave me an F2 in good nick. I've just been checking its seals over - I'll replace the top and bottom door seals but there doesn't appear to be any trace of a high seal. Did they never come with one? It looks like not as there is also a black metal angle plate which may block the light but just checking...

Harry,

I'm not familiar with this camera but there's a repair manual available for download. That might help you.

Or you might try a pm to Jon Goodman. He seems to know a lot about seals and such.

Good luck

The seal at the film door hinge is the prime source of light leaks. I'd replace that first with some thin adhesive-backed foam. An easy DIY job.

All of our F2 bodies are loaded with film!

I was going to check once I reloaded but I shot a different camera this weekend.

Maybe Google search Sover Wong, email and ask him? He sells seal kits too, might me time to redo the seals anyway...

Just replaced the seals on my F2. There are seals that run the length of the back top and bottom and one seal that runs up and down where the back hinges to the body. I also replaced the mirror seal that is the one that prevents the mirror from hitting the top of the mirror chamber. They usually get gummy and deteriorate and will leave a residue on the mirror. Do a search on Ebay and you will find seal kits fairly cheap. I used the one from Ebay ID nikoncameras.

thanks that's great. I'll get some kits, but I also notice in those instructions he says there are no door hinge seals. This contradicts what Robert Ley says, but confirms my suspicions w/r to mine. Are you sure your are remembering right?
