I have yet another issue, this time with a Nikon F Photomic T. Everything seems good except for setting the ASA on the meter. You're supposed to be able to lift up the silver ring and set the ASA number to the max aperture of your lens, and I cannot seem to get that silver ring to move. I can pull up the whole piece, but that silver ring won't budge.

Like I said in another post I'm no stranger to photography or film cameras, but some of this vintage stuff is definitely beyond my knowledge.

I suspect that the ring is frozen from not being moved for a very long time. I looked at an instruction manual, says to lift ring and turn, lens being mounted isn't mentioned in the manual.

The 'ring' is there as something to grip when you change shutter speeds. It lifts up to allow you to mate it to the camera's shutter speed control - when the meter/prism lines up with the shutter speed dial the ring will drop down and lock to the shutter speed dial.

You change the ASA, lining it up with the lens aperture markings, by rotating the the black disk. There are a pair of nubs on the disk to allow you to turn the disk.

Be sure you're reading the manual for the correct version of the meter prism. You have a Photomic T (large aperture number slot in front, no release lever on side, no N on top). On the Photomic FTn, the later version with the small aperture number slot in front and big release lever on photographer's right, there are no silver nubs on the ASA dial, and you do lift up the silver ring and turn it to set the ASA.

This also matters because the procedure for indexing the lens maximum aperture to the meter prism is slightly different between the different versions of the meter prism, IIRC.
