Was just gifted a Nikon D200 DSLR and it didn't have the accompanying software, so I headed over to the Nikon download site and am kinda overwhelmed by the number of programs and seemingly conflicting version/release dates of these packages.

It seems as if the more mature release versions of programs have an OLDER release date; how can this be?

I'm baffled. What version(s) should I use for the D200 on a system running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit?

Clear as mud...

Start with ViewNX 2 for starting up with image and RAW file work.
If there are no later versions, it means what is listed is perfectly fine for use.
The camera, though, may need a firmware update if it hasn't been done before. See the Firmware page.

I would always try to use the latest version first. Alternatively you need to call Nikon.
