Let me preface that...
I have both cameras....
Thanks, to both of you, for the responses! I was curious, as I'd heard some people say that the D6 is somewhat "limited," regarding the sensor. I do LOVE my F6 w/MB-40 grip, and have no intention of giving-up film. It seems that maybe D850 would be the one to look at.
The sensors "limitation" is: D850 46 MPx / D6 20 MPx.I was curious, as I'd heard some people say that the D6 is somewhat "limited," regarding the sensor.
I have a Nikon made grip for the D850, it's capable of using AAs, nice to not need a Nikon made battery. No way to use anything other than the en el 18 battery in the D6.

Beyond ca. ISO3200 the D6 seems to have a slight edge over the D850, but the question is how relevant that difference is. And especially if it justifies the considerable difference in dynamic range at low ISO's. For me this would be a no-brainer, not even talking about price and weight.I guess the trade-off is better low-light performance.
Weight doesn't really bother me, I lug around an F6 with the MB-40 grip. Like you, I'm a "dinosaur," I started with SLR's in 1989/90 and don't have any interest in mirrorless.
Based upon the graph, it looks like Nikon should've stuck the D850 sensor in the D6 body, best of both worlds.Seriously, I wonder why they didn't.
No it's about speed. If they put the D850 sensor in the D6 they can't get the speed.
So, basically, the EXPEED 6 processor would be able to process a 46MPx file fast enough to get 14 frames per second?
