Just wondering what the popular consensus on this lens is? I recently acquired one, AI’d it, and I’m really liking it.

Thanks

Back in the 1960s, I sold my Miranda SLR and replaced it with a Nikon SLR. The first lens I purchased was the Nikon 35mm f/2. Later, I had Nikon AI it. When I wore it out, I replaced it with another Nikon 35mm f/2 that was already AI'd.

For decades, the Nikon 35mm f/2 was my favorite lens until the Nikon 35mm f/1.4 became my favorite.

KEH used to charge more for the Nikkor-O version compared to the multicoated version. I asked- was told many photographers preferred the look of the single-coated lens.
I've had mine for almost 40 years, had Mora camera convert it to Ai with a factory kit. Sold the 35/2 Ai version, kept the converted Nikkor-O.

Just to add: the 35/2 Nikkor-O was reformulated early on: the first version is not as good as the second. I'm not sure of when the change-over occurred, mine is the second version.

I have had a 35/2 O for years. Recently I added a 35/2 'K' which was adapted to AI. I like both of them. My favorite Nikkor 35? The 'K'/early AI model with 6 elements. I used the early AI on a recently overhauled Nikkormat FT3 last weekend.

Mine's a well worn pre-AI and, likewise, I'm happy with the 35/2 Nikkor-O.
