I have a vintage Nikkormat EL that I have just sold the lenses and now must find a body cap . I have done some research but have been unable to find any information on what cap will fit the EL model. Can someone tell me whether a vintage F type of body cap will fit or what reference number I can look to to find the correct cap.
Is there some reason that an ordinary Nikon F body cap wouldn't work?
I have several Nikkormats and when no lens is mounted, they all wear a generic, inexpensive, commonly available "Nikon F" body cap.
...or, are you specifically looking for the 'period correct' OEM body cap?
If you want a body cap that is exactly like the one that came with the camera may be difficult to find as I don't know which came with the camera. However, if you buy the Nikon BF-1B it would fit and they are available new for less than $10.
I just bought 4 pair of Body caps and rear lens caps (generic) from Fleabay for about $9 shipped from China. They take a while to arrive but are dirt cheap and do the job.
Just look for Nikon F body cap. About a buck and some from China will be there in a month. Original cap will be more like $10 +. But if you want original for less, got to be patient and you will find one for $5.
THIS ONE is a knock off but does say Nikon on it. $3 shipped for two, so you get another Nikon body for the second one
