Hey guys,

I saw a good deal on a 24mm 2.8 Vintage Nikkor lens for my FE. Can anyone tell me what Nikkor N lens means?

And if you see "Nikkor C" that refers to the lens being coated. They dropped that marking in the '70s I believe, since coating was the standard by then.

I think dropped well before that (all F mount lenses would have been coated anyway), then resurrected (70's I think) to indicate multicoated. I have a 24/2.8 and 50 1/4 with that designation. NC and SC IIRC.

Mine is an NC. If you intend to use an N (or NC) on a Nikon FE you will have to fold back the AI tab on the camera and use stop down metering. My NC is missing the prong so I have to use stop down metering even with pre-AI cameras. I'n only had the lens for a short time but so far I like it.
