The Nikkor 35-70/2.8 AF(-D) is known to be prone to clouding in the middle of a lens set.

It is not clear whether this is the separation of two or more lenses or haze, e.g. due to the fumes of lubricant.

Have you had any experience with fixing this?

Here is a video about it

I know both problems.
The problem you called separation is not separation of two lenses glued together in the second last area behind the aperture, but fogging of the glue, and can not be removed by cleaning.
The problem with haze on lens surfaces occurs mostly on the lens groups in the middle and is removable by demounting and cleaning theses lenses.

Thanks, Michael!

I'm lucky with my copy - no clouding and only a little separation, which shouldn't affect the photos.

The next time I go out with the Nikon F4 I'll have the zoom with me, so I can say more about it then.
