The images are beautiful.
The look, I would suggest, is obtained by extremely careful attention to setting levels, contrast, burning and dodging in photoshop. i.e. his photoshopping skills are are very high. But you must have a very good neg to start with otherwise you'll never get the photoshopping to that level. It helps to really understand whats needed in the the darkroom to achieve the same which many photoshoppers haven't got a clue about.
I read the other topic which was linked to in which he posted.
There are one or two anomalies in the images I've looked at. The following is an example where the plane of focus could be set with a LF camera but to do it with a moving herd of elephants would be nigh on impossible unless it was just a lucky shot. But it could be done in the darkroom too.
However, it has to be said that it's not the place of anyone here to set the standards by which anyone else should work and produce their images. That's entirely upto to them and if they want to photoshop in some effects which could be done in the darkroom by an expert then who are we to cry foul. Only when stuff is done digitally and then claimed not to have been done digitally, does the integrity of the photographer come into queestion.
