Response to long-ago post about Nick Brandt:

In 2007 I had the pleasure to view many of Nick Brandt's prints in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

They are, of course, exquisite inkjet prints...inkjet...like most fine contemporary enlargements. I'm a skilled inkjet printer but I'm aware that some images are best printed optically....platinum printed images seem beyond inkjet's capability. On the other hand, most silver prints can be printed at least as well via inkjet. Ansel would, if he was with us today.

I don't believe many analog-only printers could distinguish Brandt's prints from silver prints made on the same paper.

Some of Brandt's were huge, others were only 16X20 or thereabouts.

A fine film about Brandt's process was shown. No technical tricks but some serious people and animal challenges.
