Hi

I recently bought this camera serial 5547X. When I looked at it, I noticed it had a shutter issue.

The curtains were obviously there but the shutter wouldn't release when the button was pressed. You would hear a slight click, but the shutter wouldn't fire.

Tapping the end of the camera would make the shutter release. I thought it would be a simple issue, but I've pulled it apart - not a fast process, but I've done an early Fed camera before, and now I'm none the wiser.

If the Advance - Reverse lever is placed slightly to the left of A, the the shutter "seems" to fire. However the shutter never opens, nor does the B setting keep the shutter open.

It seems the first curtain never releases, but I could be wrong on this.

Does anyone have any ideas?

You will have to trace the activation sequence from the button to the curtain release
.

Thanks, but I've tried to do tbat to no avail. It seems the first click I hear should be the first curtain releasing, but it seems that doesn't happen and then It will fire the 2nd curtain at the same time.

Here is a pic of just after shutter press. It makes a slight click and hangs here.

Pressing where I have the arrow marked causes the shutter to release, but whether set at B or any other speed the curtains are not open.

Hi all, well the solution was found.

The problem was the two shutter curtains were stuck together. I freed them and now it works as expected. Someone with a little more experience would probably have spotted it instantly.

Thanks ic-racer for your input.

Cheers, Graeme
