Reading this I was surprised to know they still used any film. What part of the game(s) is it used for??
How do they do all the instant replays?
By the gist of the text, "NFL Films" is not what gets broadcast direct to TV, that would have been videotape since at least the 80s.
These "films" must be something that's shown in a "cinema" (remember them? I haven't been to one in years) and not live on TV. (edit: or maybe flown to TV stations for the nightly highlights, but still not live)
ps, of course they kept the name "NFL Films", because "NFL Pixels" doesn't have the same ring to it (and Pixar might sue them for it).
Got it. I'm not a football (NFL style) fan. Never realized there was that much viewing beyond the game in real time.
