Next View Camera conference

It seems to me that a location should be choosen that meets two criteria.

First, facilities for the conference are necessary. Most larger hotels should be able to provide this.

Second, given that many people like to combine travel and photography. Let's pick a place that is photogenic. Perhaps the mountains (Santa Fe or Denver)? Or the coast (Monterey works here)?

Beinf selfish, any place near NYC. SO VF or Springfield of the places mentioned so far. The Catskills would also be a good location with maybe a connection with the Center for Photography in Woodstock. Easy to get to from any of the major airports in the NYC area.

I have contacted the Center in Woodstock to see if they would be interested in having the View Camera conference there. If not then Springfield is the leading candidate. The New Engand LF group has offered to help us.

Woodstock??? Geez, I hope they'll help. It's only a 45minute drive from here and I've enjoyed several workshops there. But Springfield would be OK too. (Man, that's neat...I never thought it'd ber held anywhere near enough to attend...goooodie!!)

It's an attractive location with lots of places to stay, and the Center has darkrooms and gallery space.

Steve,

Lets see APIS in Santa Fe, Photo Santa Fe, View Camera Conferance in Santa Fe, then on to Victor School in Colorado and teach a workshop or 2 my summer will be full and I will have a fun time. Lets see I VOTE ??????

The WoodStock Center would be a great idea. Just outside NYC, in a beautiful region of the country, and as David mentioned, they have darkrooms on site, exhibition space. They might be a little short on event space. I think the Center could really use the publicity from this also.

One other thought, even their Operations Manager shoots 8x10.

During the Woodstock Film Festival, there are many local venues used for screenings. There are a number of large spaces there that could easily utilized for exhibition space (The Center's space is nice enough, but not very large.) if the folks at the Center could arrange for that. There are numerous B&B's in the area and motels not too far away as well. Since I don't know how large the conference is, I can only speculate that if Steve Simmons has put Woodstock on the likely sites short list, it is likely that it will work out quite well.
