newbie question

It’s actually embarrassing what I’m about to ask.
I have shot film for a while , but it has always been color.
I have recently just shot my first roll of black and white illford pan f 50 film.It’s 120 mf btw.
When I got it back from the lab it’s reversed whats black is white and white is black.

I scanned it in my computer using the espon v700 and have aperture as my editing program.
My question is how do I turn it to an actual black and white image.

Just find Invert, that will give you a positive.

Image -> Adjustments -> Invert, or Ctrl-I.

That is the meaning of 'negative'. If you've never seen developed film before it can be quite mysterious.

It seems odd that whatever software you're scanning with doesn't invert it for you. I just use Epson Scan with my 4870 and even the scan preview shows up as a positive. You may want to have a look at your scan settings. Or you can just Invert once you pull it into Aperture...
