This product appears to be inching towards production. Indeed, it appeared - albeit briefly - on their website as available to buy.
I have dusted off my trusty Polaroid 5x4 film back.

Does anybody have a handle on what is going on? The website mentions some failure of 'coating' and says it's cost them $100,000 !
I can't make any sense of this.

It appears to me that there may be significant international demand for the packs. I wonder if they can cope. It's a brave initiative
and the founders deserve our support.

They have had some road blocks along the way, but they are carrying on. It is true that their coating of the receiver sheet material failed, and they are currently coating the receiver sheets by hand on a one by one basis. They are hoping to come up with a way to run a small coater and do this themselves. There is a lot of information about their path on their Kickstarter site, as they put many updates there, as well as on Facebook and their blog site. The kickstarter is here Dead Link Removed. One of the additional hurdles that they are dealing with right now is the fact that cash flow is running low, so they are hoping to sell some products. I truly hope that everything balances out for them!

Well as far as I understood there were some big problems with the receiver sheets at the end. I think the receiver sheet did behave well when hand coated, but the machine coated version had some problems.

The blog

http://new55project.blogspot.fr/

gives some information. The facebook blog (no facebook account needed for reading)

https://www.facebook.com/pages/New55/190955884271025

gives more detailed information.

They are on the way to produce the kickstart rewards and sell some part of the production on their webshop from time to time to get some cash.

I hope they overcome the last problems.
And I hope to see examples of new55 photos here soon.

AFAIK the New55 team is working hard to resolve the recent failure in the receiver sheet coating. It's my understanding that funds are running very tight and everyone is hopeful that product sales (R3 Monobath, 1SHOT, New55 PN (when available), T-shirts, etc) will carry them through these recent challenges. IMO Bob, Sam, and the entire New55 team have put yeoman's effort into this project! I think a real clue to the demand for this new positive/negative material is that every time they've sent out an e-mail that New55 PN is available through their web store, it's sold out before many of us even get the notice!!

Keep buying whatever New55 products you're interested in and let's keep the dream alive!!

Best regards,

I will highly recommend their 1SHOT film material. Tabular Grain like 100TMX, Tonality of Plus-X and the super fine grain of Panatomic-X

Pacemaker Crown Graphic - Schneider-Kreuznack Symmar-S 1:5.6/210 - New55 Atomic-X @ ASA-50
