This years goal for photography is to stop looking, reading about pretty new cameras and reading technique. Time to get my butt out there and burn some film. The goal is a roll a week, keeping the 50mm lens attached nothing else. i dont know if I should keep to one speed and one stock of film, or use 2 speeds and stocks. The stock that I have in mind is Ektar 100 and HP5+. I do have all the darkroom equipment needed. Being that my main focus will be railroad photography, color is always a benefit and B/W will be fun and I want to hone my darkroom skills.

What have been your experiences that helped you learn and hone in your photography skills.

Oh, and I would like to add the the cameras that will be used: Pentax K1000 with 50mm 1:2 and Canon Elan II and canon 50mm 1:1.4. Should I stick with one body, or keep both in rotation?

O Winston Link look out, good luck with your new year plans. I am hoping to extend/finish a project I started about 4 years ago (I'm that slow).

Getting out and shooting

I decided to get out and shoot one camera, one lens, one film this year. I have almost finished my second roll of tri x. I'm sure giving more thought to taking the photo than I usually do. I'm shooting with a Minox El, 35mm camera.

I am an inveterate experimenter and so make no plans. Too restrective. This of course means I produce no 'good' photography.

This does not mean I don't have fun with photography. Just my idea of fun.

I totally agree with taking pictures rather than reading about others doing it!

As for the which camera, which film - doesn't matter. Use whatever you wish!

First thing I am hoping for in 2014 is that my mind won't so often be elsewhere when I go out. I don't know how many times I found myself not only walking faster than normal but my brain not recording anything around me, which isn't what you want to be happening when you go out with a camera in your hand. Year 2013 was abysmal in that regard.
Second thing is to get my workflow in order. I moved two years ago and still haven't gotten things straight. Now that I think about it, it's so far from "straight" right now it's more like a fast rotating garbage dump (don't ask, I don't know what that even means but that's how it feels).
Third, and the first I am going to do because it's good to start with something simple, is to get a new strap for my F100. Maybe that will get me rollin'...
