new user, need help with film and camera compatibility

Hello,
I am interested in buying an instant camera, the kind where you can pull the picture out of the bottom (for lack of better terms). But i just found out about Polaroid's decision to stop producing film. I am also aware that Fujifilm makes some film that is compatible with some Polaroid cameras. I was wondering what Polaroid cameras are compatible with Fujifilm because I want to be able to use the camera for more then a year. Any information would be fantastic!!! thank you!

I believe the film is interchangeable as long as it is the same size.

Hannah, just decide what format (film size) you want to use and see if Fuji makes film for the size you're after. Most likely they do and you'll be very happy with their film; the only downside of the colour Fuji stuff is that it is very difficult to make image transfer using it, but it does make very nice & durable emulsion lifts. The b&w Fuji stuff is wonderful. Unfortunately Fuji does not [yet] make the manipulatable stuff or the pos/neg polaroid stuff. But their fp100c and fp100b etc. are great.

Fuji make pack films compatible with older style polaroid cameras and with polaroid pack film backs for medium and large format cameras. You pull it out of the camera/back, wait for it to develop, and then peel the layer of paper off the print. This is what (I think) is being referred to above.

They also make their own integral type film (the type that spits out of the camera and doesn't need to be pulled apart) but it is not compatible with any polaroid brand cameras. It is called fuji instax film and the cameras are also called instax. I believe they are not very common in the US.

The Polaroid 250 Automatic will work with Fujifilm FP100C. Fuji also have a B/W version of that, and an ISO 3000 (high speed, low light) film that will work. Similar old Polaroid cameras to that are the 100 Automatic, 350, 360, and 450 . . . with little difference between them, other than flash type or battery. If you had a bigger budget, you could try to find a Polaroid 180, which uses a manually set shutter speed and aperture.

There is also the Polaroid 405 film holder, which can use current Fujifilm instant peel apart films. These backs will fit many large format (4x5) cameras. There is also a Polaroid 550 film holder, and Fuji makes FP100C45 just to fit that back; also works on many 4x5 cameras.

Fujifilm sell their Instax cameras in Japan. These are not peel apart films, instead each shot simply comes out of the camera after you push the shutter. While these seem like the Polaroid cameras that take the 600 films, they are not croxx compatible.

If you can find Polaroid film for the camera you want to buy, stock up on it and you should be ok. But, when it's gone, it's GONE! Sorry, but that is the reality. Hope it doesnt bite.

get a polaroid ee 100 special or reporter or reporter se or my favorite a propack with handle mount flash.all can be had on the bay for less than 50 with shipping.i paid 35 for my two propacks here on the pug.very nice cameras kinda cool looking and take the fuji pack film which was cheaper than the polaroid at bh photo.good luck,dont get a 600 i have one and it isnt that special and the ones i listed look like a 4x5s little brother.
