New to me Nikon F4

My F4 must be pretty well the same as the one owned by the originator of this thread. It has no LCD bleed virtually no polishing on the body surface and everything works exactly as it should, The only thing is the tiny screw cap that should be on the cable release socket on the lower left hand side of the base is missing. They are still available, but the price would make you gasp! and then some. Followed by "sorry not at that price"

It is a perfect partner for my 20/35 and 35/135 AFD lenses.

I like the F4 because of the weight and solid build. You don't get a great deal of camera shake with this bulk although it can be a real pain to carry a distance if you are out walking. Beaten to the market place by the Eos1 (in UK anyway) Nikon came up with this beauty to show Canon what a pro camera should be like. How many Eos 1 (or the derivatives) bodies do you see compared to the F4? That speaks for itself.

I used to dream of this camera back in the 90's. I just never had enough money back in this days though...

On the other hand when I was a teenager I wanted the Bronica in the worst way and could not afford it. So now I have had to settle for using Hasselblads. May you have a similar fate.

Sorry but that will never happen. Love my RB too much

Your Hasselblad is the RB.

If you say so
A friend of mine had two Hasselblads. I believe when he got out of film, he sold them. Couldn't tell you which ones he had though. Very nice. If I had the money back when I was getting into MF, I MIGHT have bought one...MIGHT.

Congrats on a beautiful camera and some fine images to show already. I have one to sell if anyone is reading through this thread and gets the bite to have one. Send a PM. I love the sound the shutter makes and was also pleasantly surprised to find that it had the button to flip up the AI tab so that the early lenses can get used. I think a 10.5 cm Sonnar type f2.5 makes perfect sense on an F4.

Does anybody have a side by side picture of a f4 / f4s and a f3 with md4? I use a f3hp md-4 combo right now, would would be interested in the f4/f4s if its physically smaller then my combo.

You can see how my F3 w MD4 towers over my F4 (not the F4s)

No fair Huss that's a F3P in the back with its even taller hot shoe. I suspect it may even have an AH-3 or MK-1 attached. We shorter fellas tend to spot those lifted shoes and spiked hair in those class photos...

What's an AH-3 or MK-1? Just the camera and the MD-4.

Ha well a AH-3 or MK-1 has a 7mm+ extra space to center the MD-4 tripod mounting screw hole so that both those accessories add an additional height to the cameras, and judging by your 'class photo' I thought the F3P in the back had a little extra. The MK-1 adds a vertical shutter release as well as a "firing rate converter' which steps the 6fps top frame rate down to 3,2 and 1 fps, it ws quite handy doing ling lens sports in the vertical orientation. And showing off that your F3P was Bigger...

The F3 with Md4 is bigger than the F4. But... I think it handles better than the F4, it really feels great to use. But not carry around.

Stopped by Roberts photo used department today to play around with a f4s, going to stay with the f3 md4 combo. All the controls fall directly where they should on the f3, and the grip feels better to my hands. They are about the same weight but the f4s is shorter. The f3hp just works for me.
