New (to me) Durst M600: 6x6 gets cropped?

When I was little my father used to make prints, and sometimes if I had been a good boy I could join him in the darkroom. Ever since, I one day have wanted to do my own prints.

So, today I managed to my hands on an old Durst M600, a ton of papers, a few development tanks, some chem tanks and a few mask boards. The enlarger came with a 50/3.5 Canon lens.

I picked out the 24x36 masks and loaded it with a 6x6 negative. To my surprise, the resulting picture on the mask board was cropped :/ Is this a result of the lens? Do I need a longer lens? Also, there seem to be some form of vingetting; is this common when the lens is fully open!

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to taking my photographic adventure from a hybrid to a 100% analog workflow.

You need an 80mm lens. A 50mm will vignette & crop.

Thank you. Do all enlarger lens have the same mount/screw, or must I look up something special that fit the Durst?

For lenses the Leica 39 mm (diameter) screw mount is typical, but there are also 25, and 32.5 mm lens mounts.

Durst lensboards are not uncommon on ebay, though they are a little confusing, as just about every enlarger Durst makes needs a different one and they are desginated by names rather than sizes. Lensboards for most enlargers are brand-specific and few, if any, interchange.

Finally, your 50 mm lens may well be mounted on a "recessed" board, where an 80mm will work best with a flat board.

After a bit googling and reading there seem to be two types of lensboeard; SIXPLA och SIXTUB. From what I get, the SIXPLA is the "recessed" board, and should be used for small format (50mm), whereas SIXTUB is for medium format (80mm). Correct?

Someone stated that it was best to get a 39mm screw mount board, since it can accept all other types with adapters.

It's the other way around, I believe, the flat boards for my M600 say "SIXPLA" on them.

FWIW, the recessed board for my M601 (a wholly different beast) is a "SETOPLA", go figure.

I am not familiar with the M600, but my M605 has different condensers for 35mm and 6x6.
