Hi all--
On a whim I bought a Canon IID today. It has the 50mm 3.5 collapsible lens on it. Two questions, first...does anyone have a link for a manual I can download (shouldn't we start that on APUG??? I'll gladly scan all the manuals I have!) Secondly, the guy that sold it to me said that the lens on it is "more valuable" because it is much less common than the 1.8. I'm not worried about the value, I just want to use it, but is there any truth to that statement...the rare part I mean!
Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

The 3.5 is much more rare, but most of them are in poor condition due to element separation in the rear pair. Most of the time it is unrepairable. If you got one with clean elements, then you should be happy...

I have a IID2 (if I remember correctly) that has the 1.8 collapsible lens. I like it for real light travel (backpacking, for example). It's about the last 35mm camera I own.
