Hi Ritchie, Photos on my site are scanned from negs, scanned 8x10 prints, digital file, or digital pic of a print.

I've been to the Friday 13th event in Port Dover a few times over the years. It's changing and becoming too diluted with tourist gawkers. While I'd love to meet up, SW Ontario is a bit far over very boring roads to get there. For day rides, I tend to head east and north of where I am. But maybe we could arrange something; I'd love to here more about your big ride.

I've moved this thread to the introduction area. I think we have the five post minimum to keep spam bots at bay, but looks like you've found a warm welcome here!

So I'll add a welcome to APUG, too!

No website. I am in the process of digitizing my work, but have a dilemma to face; most of my finished prints are on 11x14 or 16x20 paper. They usually have a wide margin and are difficult to scan on my V700. I can scan my negatives and slides easily enough, but then have to dodge/burn in PS to make them look near as good as the prints. Alternately I can remove scanner lid, scan print in sections and then stitch and adjust densities to match- again, a lot of work.

How do you do it?

I was going to attach a few samples here, but I note that there is a 1.2 meg limit on jpg's. Will need to re-size as all mine are larger files.

Words that you may never see again:

"Free software from Microsoft".

Image Composite Editor - works well when you want to stitch two halves of an 11x14. I haven't tried it with a 16x20.

And as this is relevant to how to upload images for the APUG gallery, this "digital" subject is actually acceptable for this site!:D

Sorry, I avoid Microsoft like the plague! I can stitch images in PS.

I was wondering about the digital uploads myself, but then again, we wouldn't be having this discussion were it not for digital technology. I use digital tech all the time, just prefer film for imaging and silver halide paper for printing. Although I'm officially 'retired' I still do film scanning for a camera shop, plus digital photo restorations and film scans for general public, from my home. Decades of b&w and colour printing gave me a head start in the digital era.
