Hi everyone,
My name is Sam and I’m an eastern Oregon dweller. I caught the bug to try analog photography and amassed a small thrift/pawned collection. I am excited and extremely intimidated by the medium. I just dropped off my first rolls of film at the lab to be developed and am nervously awaiting the results. I thought people might want to see the collection, so I dropped a picture below. Thanks for having me, and any tips and encouragements for beginners is appreciated.
PS: I have lenses; they just aren’t photographed. 😃

Welcome! What an interesting collection of cameras. For me, using different types of gear -- and finding bargains -- is part of the fun of film photography.

Hopefully your first batch of photos comes out (and folks here will help you if they don't). Which which camera did you shoot the first roll?

I shot 3 rolls on the Fujica, Canon, and Nikon (all SLRs). I’m excited to see how they go!

WELCOME.

Good to hear you have lenses for those SLRs. A nice mix of new and old.

Yes! Each of them came with at least one lens. The Canon actually came in a lot with a few more. I really like the feel of that FTb!

Im using Kodak 400 ISO color film. I haven’t actually gotten film for the Kodak medium format yet, but that’s one I’m to try shooting on!

Be warned, the Kodak could be a bit light-leaky. Also, some of those cameras used 620 film I believe -- that's 120 on a different spool. You can get pre-spooled film from the Film Photography Project, but it can get a bit costly.

I think I’d seen the light leak stuff in some of my research. But thanks a bunch!

Isn’t everything an hour away? I explained to my sister, Lake County is the size of New Jersey.

Haha. You’re about right. We’re in rural Malheur County and I tell people we’re 20 mins from everything.

Welcome to the forum and film shooting. Don't be discouraged if the results aren't what you expect, that's part of the learning process.

If you're about an hour from Boise then I may have shot this in your area. I'm near Seattle but I travel a lot for work, so I get over there every now and then. Lots of great scenery out there.

You may be able to modify a 120 roll to fit the Kodak. I've shot 120 film in my Kodak Tourist by using a nail clipper to decrease the diameter of the spool ends and then sandpaper to make them a little shorter. There are likely YouTube videos showing this. Eventually I opted to buy a folder that takes 120 film...

But anyway, welcome! I hope you find film photography satisfying.

There is a lab locally in Boise, ID (about an hour from me) that I dropped it off at!

You are a great candidate for home processing. Welcome to the rabbit hole! You may never find your way back out.

Seriously, if you can make Kraft mac-n-cheese from the box, you can process film.

I thought with the yellow dye they use in the powdered cheese mix it would only work with Kodak films?

Wow. I hadn't heard that one before, Kraft and Kodak in cahoots?
