Following the recent thread by Keith Tapscott on availability of the new Tmax 400 in the U.K. and Stoo Batchelor's post adding Mailshots and 7Dayshop as reasonably priced suppliers, I think I might give it a go but want to try it with Ilford DDX which I think is very similar to TMax developer.

I did a search and found many threads but only one thread on the new TMax 400 and DDX combination but unfortunately no direct answers in that thread.

The MDC quotes the same times as Ilford Harman which is 8mins but this is clearly for the former TMax400. John Sexton and Kodak, I think, suggest a 10% reduction for the TMax.

This brings it down to about 7 mins for DDX and is close to Kodak's recommendation of 6.75 mins for TMax developer which I think is similar DDX.

So, in summary, my line of reasoning suggests 7 mins as a good starting point. However users' actual experience of this combo would be much appreciated and if there is none then comments on my thoughts above would be appreciated.

My other developer is Perceptol and again there are quoted times on the Harman site for this combo to which I'd apply the 10% reduction, failing anyone's actual experience but I'd appreciate anyone who has tried this combination supplying his times as well.

Thanks

OK. It did get 63 views and it might simply be that there is no-one out there who has used new Tmax and DDX but I'd still appreciate comments on my line of reasoning for choosing 7 mins as a starting point for DDX and a 10% reduction for Perceptol as an alternative developer.

On the other hand I may have chosen an "unproductive slot" to launch the thread. That can happen and sometimes a thread can sink without trace.

If anyone hadn't seen it first time around and has something to offer by way of comment please feel free. I thought the start of a new working week might be a good time to repeat the post. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Thanks

aparat. Many thanks. This reply alone has made it worthwhile to re-post. For what's it worth, I had rounded the calculation to the nearest minute but 8 mins(480 secs) reduced by 10% is 432 secs which is 7 mins 12 secs. This 10% reduction must be very accurate as it gets to within 3 secs of a known(yours) accurate time. I needed re-assurance that my reasoning was about right and you've supplied it. There's nothing lik a reply from someone who has actually done it and has had the negs in his hand.
