Kodak part# for TMY-2 is 843-8202.

I think I remember reading that Kodak is using the "old" product numbers for the "new" film. Be careful.

The new T-Max package will say some thing about sharpest and this print will be inside a red box on the label and the glued paper around holding it shut will have a lot of green on it. The catelogue number is indeed 843-8202. I have a box on my desk.

Kodak has a publication which describes how to distinguish TMY-2 from TMY including differences in film notches, packaging etc.

New or old T-max 400 emulsion

Be aware, in the uk it seems impossible to get the new film! I saw the stuff advertised on Morco, and clearly it is in the group with a photo labelled 'world's sharpest'.

I ordered two boxes and today I received the old stuff. I checked the notch code on the box, it is the old 3 notches and not the new stuff that has one notch only.

I am bit brassed off with Morco for not spotting this, and disgusted with Kodak that they seem unable to get any of this film to distributors in the UK.

Steve,

If you angry at Morco and Kodak - you don't know how this works.

Until the distributors run out of "old" TMY by supplying orders from retailers, they have no need to re-order any TMY from Kodak. It's when they re-order TMY that they will receive the new stuff from Kodak.

The distributor isn't simply going to throw out the "old" TMY because a newer product is available. And Kodak won't ask them to do so.

Neither Morco nor Kodak is to blame here.

We have the same issue in the States. Both of what passes for my local retail camera store recently re-ordered TMY in various sizes; but their distributor was still fulfilling orders from their existing stock of TMY; which was the old stuff.
