I got me a National PE-3056 flashlight from 1978. One of those early autoexposure electronic flashlights. It got three aperture settings and as extraordinary feature a sensor assembly that can be taken off and used as on-camera sensor with the flashlight used off the camera.

The light got a sticker and the manual a printing of:

"New Standard - N"

Any idea what this refers too?

No, that was much later. And the flashlight got concentric ASA and DIN scales at the dial.

Sad enough mine only makes white light...

But about the same time or somewhat later there were lights that got exchangable coloured fliter screens.

Meanwhile I got another National flash, a hammerhead one, with this enigmatic sticker.
