With the change in seasons upon us, spring up north and fall in the south, I am wondering what some folks here have planned for their photographic life? Any locations, subjects or techniques anyone wants to share that they will be exploring with the changing seasons?

I am new (ish) to the state of Minnesota and have finally settled down enough from my move, and with Covid less of a concern, I have some plans to explore some of the state parks and north shore area this spring and summer. I have a project I want to start here too, but that's for another post. I will be more focused on woodland subjects this season. What about you?

I have IR film here.

I actually should have been using it already. We get green whenever it rains and that happens almost at random, but I've been waiting for a park with a nice view and a deciduous tree. The leaves are coming back strong right now, so I need to do it soon.

I wasn't super interested in this, but was given a couple of rollsl and an IR filter with a camera I bought over the winter, so why not?

I have a couple rolls of Rollei IR in 120 as well, and an R72 to fit my RB67. Must watch for the leaves, likely some to be had this weekend or next.

I have no idea. I'm terrified. Probably shooting random & uninteresting stuff with 135 and cursing next winter of my bad decisions.

Spring is here and I want to shoot my HIE, Konica IR and Rollei IR films.

This Spring Break, I'm planning heading up to Fraser Canyon/Thompson Valley area for a few days. Probably take along a mix of medium and LF. FP4, HP5, Delta, Acros, and Rollei IR. I'm planning on stopping at the old abandoned Alexandria Bridge, the view over the Thompson Valley and Walhacin, an old, overgrown dyke consisting of old cars along the Thompson River, for starters. I hope the weather cooperates.

At times I can be a totally failed photographer. A one day sunny warm front interrupted the cold winter weather in NW New Jersey mountains. Although with a loaded camera sitting next to me, I spent 10 min watching a beautiful fox stretch out in the sun, belly up, and wiggle on the ground, scratch its ears and groom itself (must be getting ready to meet the ladies) on a slope behind my house. Got closer with binoculars, but completely forgot about camera.
The mating season is interesting to watch, both in the woods and in the coffee shops.

What I have planned is to buy some allergy meds. Arizona wild flowers and all manner of plants and flowers are exploding right now w/ pollen.

Check out the bars for mating behavior too.

Now that Spring is almost here ( although it's raining at the moment ) I'm hoping to get out with my cameras a lot more especially since the Covid Pandemic has forced me to hardly go out of my house for more than two years. This coming Saturday on the local weather forecast looks very good and I'm looking forward to going out and using my gear, some of which I bought more than two years ago and have never used.

For two years I have only photographed outside the house in Yosemite, New Orleans and Yellowstone. It is slowly becoming safe to go out.

I hate Spring. Not really, but the coming of the leaves on the berries, maples, and alders under the redwoods means the wonderful winter light is coming to an end and the views thru the trees start to get shortened by all the greenery.

Careful -- some of the wildlife in that habitat is dangerous and sometimes gives little or no warning before an attack.

Watch for the lowering of heads, puffing out of chests and feet pawing the ground. If you see any of those actions slowly back away, it is not time to be taking photographs.

Problem is, like skunks and rattlesnakes, while they may display these warning, they also may not. And the old, distinctive "three clicks" of a Peacemaker hammer is a century and a half out of date. A Glock is silent until it isn't...

The light is probably bad in there anyways.

Sounds like Andrew has some pent up film to use! I hope those plans go well. New gear for Ben to take for a spin, that's always fun. Spring is a good time of year for woodland work Vaughn, without all the distractions of undergrowth. Peters workshop plans make me think about looking for something like that this year, I hope you have a great experience Peter. And it sounds like some of us are spending some time hunting wildlife in the corner bar...? :D

I have been as close to black bears as 20 feet, and bears seem to care less. A few months ago my dog and I were walking parallel to a bear for the length of my 100ft + driveway. Dog and I were on asphalt, bear walking along 15 -20 feet away though woods. Dog going nuts. Bear looked over at us every now and then, but just continued walking. However, always keep away from bear with cubs, or just don’t move. They can be extremely dangerous. Also, never run away from a bear, just saunter away slowly.
I used to be a bee keeper until bear ate all the bees from all my hives. Bees are protein, honey is a chaser.
One lesson l learned so years ago...at 50 ft a bear can hear the release of a Rollei TLR shutter. Amazing!
I am a little reluctant to mention this, since not quite sure how Phototrio censors will react. The press mocked Jimmy Carter when he beat an oncoming rabbit with an ore. However, any wild animal that coms toward you rather than scurrying away is likely to be rabid...whether a bear or a chipmunk.

Actually, I was referring to the wildlife in a bar, but I would prefer not to walk alongside a bear in any case. Never know when Mr. Bear (or Ms. Bear) will decide you're hogging something they want.
