Well I don't even shoot with glass plates, don't have the camera for it, but for some reason I stumbled across this:

http://www.mahn.net/PLRoll.pdf

Which is the catalog of Rollei film products at Hans O. Mahn & Co., and on page 17 of it there is a mention of "ROLLEI RETRO 100 GLASS PLATES" in 9x12cm format, sold in packs of 12 for the modest sum of 358 euros, excluding all taxes.

That's only 33$ a plate! The product was announced at Photokina 2006.

Share, and enjoy!

Other sizes are available. There is a brief mention of these and other new Maco products in the forthcoming photokina film coverage in the January 2007 issue of Shutterbug -- appearing, of course, in December this year. My wife Frances Schultz covered silver halide for the magazine.

Cheers,

R.

Word Roger, I can't wait enough to see the coverage! Did Frances write about the new Slide Direct film as well?

Mentioned, that's all. There were no samples and we always prefer to test Mahn claims for ourselves before we say too much, eg. their developer which can be used at the same time and temperature for all films. We were less than convinced by that one: Pan F was definitely over-developed, and HP5 Plus under-developed, at the same time. Their IR films and Cube 400 are on the other hand superb.

Tomorrow we're getting some of their non-orange-masked ScanFilm colour negative film developed...

Cheers,

R.
