New paper?

Found this in the Tim Rudman newsletter:

Finally: January 2021 - a 'teaser'
January brings not only the promise of widespread vaccination programmes for Covid-19, but also a new photographic paper (embargoed until January 12th) and we don't get many of those now.

I have samples in my darkroom and will bring you news in January after the embargo is lifted, so keep an eye on your inboxes and your spam folders.

Could this be the Adox Polywarmtone?

There was a new variable contrast B&W paper announced earlier this year or the end of last year from an unexpected source, I can't think of the company but it was to be their first silver based paper. There were FB and RC versions, photos of the boxes were posted on this Forum.

The fact it's been through Tim Rudman's hands suggests that whatever it is is either intended to lith or be readily toned.

What dot you mean by "embargoed"? (Halide stuff is so oldfashioned now, that it hardly could make it on any embargo listing.)

Perhaps you mean "restricted for sale".

That’s what Tim Rudman writes. He knows what paper it is, he has samples of it, but is not allowed to tell anyone more about it untill Januari 12. It’s all marketing, I suppose

Frank on a slightly more serious note than my comment in #13 above about Kodachrome, was this the latest newsletter or an earlier one?

I ask because just a few minutes ago I received the newsletter and there was no mention of new paper in that newsletter. It may have been in an earlier newsletter which I deleted and have forgotten it was mentioned?

I recieved the same newsletter from Tim Rudman yesterday (10th december) and the New paper is in it, we will just have to wait until January 12th to find out, but new papers are a rare event these days it is going to be hard to wait

Thanks Richard and yes in my letter of today he mentions a previous December Newsletter so I either didn't receive that one or deleted it without looking but I think this to be unlikely

I got the same letter. He has the paper in his darkroom. I would bet on Ilford

Or Foma.

The one thing that has become clear in the last few years is that a specific 'lithable' paper isn't dependent on all the handwaving over mystical heavy metal salts (especially as Cd was probably long gone from many formulations by the time anyone noticed the emulsion would lith), but on components seemingly added in the layer build-up stages.

I'm a fan of Fomatone, I have never tried lith printing. Whatever it is I hope it encourages more people to get printing, and is profitable for the manufacturer.
