Hi everyone

My name's ped and I'm new to APUG. I've been a member of Rangefinderforum and TalkPhotography for a number of years and I also own my own forum for bass players at www.basschat.co.uk

My main cameras are an Epson R-D1 with Voigtlander 28mm lens, OM1 with 50mm f1.2 lens and a Polaroid 195.

Have you ever heard of the Braun Paxette? That's the little camera that started my love for photography. My granddad gave me his Paxette which he bought from Dixons in 1954. I got to grips with it, shooting a roll of FP4 using sunny 16 and soon bought a DSLR. Well, I guess I was hooked on Rangefinders because I next bought a Leica M4-P and then the R-D1. I actually sold my Leica stuff because I prefer using the Paxettes, such is their feel and connection to my now sadly departed grandfather.

Fast forward a few years and a LOT of eBay searching and camera shop trawling, and I have the full collection of Braun Paxette coupled screwmount bodies and lenses (4 bodies and 12 lenses in total).

I develop my film in ID11 and a rondinax tank, and I'm trying Rodinal today (never used it!). Fave films are Tri-X and PanF.

Here's some more reading on my Paxette Project

And here are some pics from my 'portfolio' set on flickr.

Thanks and I look forward to getting involved!

Greetings ped. Yes I remember the Paxette. I think I had the super if my memory serves me correctly. I also owned a Paxina but I do not know if they were related. The Paxina was a 120 I believe and purchased when I was doing my National Service in Germany so that sets the era !
I hope you enjoy the forum.

Hi Roy. They aren't related as far as I know. There must be something in the name, though - any language experts here?

I believe the Paxette was manufactured to strict price regulations to allow export from post-war Germany to Europe, hence it's mechanically unfavorable comparison to Leica cameras. Despite this, the collection of lenses are extensive and ranging from adequate (Staeble Kata) to pretty decent (Schneider Kreuznach - yes I had to google that)

Cheers
Chris

Hey, if you ever fancy doing some darkroom printing I've got a small set up in the spare bedroom of my house on Belle Vue Street. It ain't much but I can do b&w and colour.
