Horseman introduces the SW617 Professional

Dead Link RemovedDead Link RemovedDead Link RemovedHere at Horseman, where we boast a long history and tradition as a medium and large format camera manufacturer, we have created the super panorama camera in our SW series - the "Horseman SW617 Professional".

Its features include an ultra wide 6 x 17 cm image with the high image quality of large-sized photographs and camera movements to allow even more professional rendering of images. The optional ground glass back also allows critical focusing and compositioning. Choose from six types of dedicated lens units to support a variety of scenes.

Boy, that looks nice! Somehow, though, I don't think it will be in my budget.

oh drooooooooool...

<wiping chin>

best i start trying to sell my photos to get some income for this baby... i sold a mint hasselblad 500c a couple of months ago, and i don't wanna have to go through that again.

Its a beaut!
Good replacement for the discontinued XPan.
Now, Hasselblad should be making this kind of cameras, not stupid digitals!
How much?

Hush, I'm dribbling...!

Damned... just when I thought I didn't need another camera.

Please don't let my wife know that you can SELL as well as BUY cameras

How's this for justification:
"But honey, look! You can use the same roll film holder on this 617 as on the view camera. How's that for saving?"

No? Ok... what about
"But HCB said himself you can't crop a photo - it must be framed in the mind's eye and shot as-is in camera. See, we need that format."

Iffy you say... ok then:
"But dear, of course we can afford it. Junior's college education is way overated anyway."

Good that Linhof and fuji have alternatives but I am still awaiting the Mamiya 8. The 6x8 neg with its great aspect ratio and 9 frames on a roll (perfect for bracketing), with lessons learned from the RF645, such as automatic light shield when removing lenses bla bla bla.

No.... the existence of the Horseman and Linhof 617 cameras are what you use to justify the $500 Chinese 617 back on the grounds of the thousands you'll be saving.

Mamiya 8--Didn't Fuji make a 6x8 rangefinder for a while?

In the home market, Fuji sold 6x8 versions of the final generation (III) of the big rangefinder with both the 65mm (GSW680III) and 90mm (GW680III) lens.

If I remember right, the Fuji 6x17 was selling for about $5000. I suspect this will be in the same range. Someday.....
