Jobo has launched a new rotary processor, obviously a successor to the long discontinued CPE-2.
Price is quoted as 1.190 EUR, which includes ~20% VAT/sales tax in Europe
A version with lift is also available.

We are very fortunate that Jobo didn't scrap the tooling for these machines. For someone who has a limited space to work these little machines will work great. And because it's a Jobo the machine will probably last for 30 years. I'm running a cpp2 that I rescued, was built about 25 years back and I love it.
The CPE s won't take expert drums but you can still use the 4x5 reels, and with IR googles they are a snap to load. I think it's important to be loyal to the companies that still support us. Jobo has great products and the support through Catlabs has been excellent for me.
I keep telling myself I'm going to buy a CPP3 when I retire. It would be nice to have a backup just incase my CPP2 goes before I do
Best Regards Mike

It is great, but the price is reasonably expensive, and, as it is the smallest model, one cannot fit expert tanks for sheet film, which is what I would like to do. I currently own one CPE2 with lift, which I bought brand new in the very late eighties, plus another CPE2 without lift, gifted to me as a spare.

The best part about any Jobo processor fitted with a lift, was/is the ability to time processing steps to the second with ease, day in day out. This is crucial for C41 with its very small processing time, and rather helpful for consistent E6 processing and great for the myriad of processing times for the squillions of B&W developers and film. Not to forget about colour and/or B&W paper processing.

I do hope that there is a big enough market for this to be viable, I have been looking for some years for a working bigger Jobo processor so I can use expert tanks, one day.....

I am so glad Jobo is producing again. I have an ancient ATL-3 that I bought a few years ago and even though it is a little rough, it still works just great.

When my CPE2 dies (which it often threatens to do - the sound the motor makes these days is not optimal), I would certainly get one. The Jobo system is great.

Marc!

You may well find an electric motor/dynamo/alternator refurbishing shop who can sort out the bearings and windings for you. They are the sort of place one might find while looking for industrial repairs and factory-machinery refurbishment, but most large conurbations probably have several.

What size sheet film? You can fit reels for 4x5" sheets and you can develop larger sheets one at a time in the 2500 series drums.

Søren, thank you for alerting me to this possibility. I am, however, well aware of the ability to do 4x5” film using the 2500 series of drums and/or extension modules.

I have been developing 4x5” in my Jobo from about when it was a few weeks old. Back then it was almost all C41 specialised Print Film, where one can make a colour corrected transparency from a colour negative for reproduction work.

The Jobo Expert tanks were not well known in Australia back then, and, in some sense are still not well known today in Australia. But, sometime after they came out and were available in Australia, they were tested by Kodak Australasia. Their summation being, “that for sheet film, nothing beat the Jobo system kitted with an Expert drum and using Kodak chemistry with a one shot processing system.”

We, at that time were running Kodak monitored C41 and E6, Dip ‘N’ Dunk processors. The Jobo Expert tanks with a one shot Kodak chemistry system, virtually made the usage of film test strips a non-requirement as film densitometry readings were so close to being identical time after time, one wondered if there was something wrong.

I have hankered ever since, for a bigger Jobo and an Expert drum. I believe that will never happen, unless someone gifts them to me.
