And what did you do about the deal you wanted to make with Kodak,.? Did you find any alternatives?
- I want to buy an ECN2 reel and bring it to Egypt with a traveler for a fee (financial reward), but I still haven't found anyone.
Why is it hard to buy a roll of Vision 3? I can buy a roll off B&H. Surely you can buy a roll from one of the big photography stores in Europe and have them ship it to you. They should remove VAT from the price. What about eBay? Are there no filmmakers in Egypt? Where do they get their film? Do you want to pay someone to sneak it in so you don't have to pay a tax or tariff? Why all the drama?

Any company with an established distribution network would have no reason to this for you. It would be a loss to them only if you were buying it instead of film from another company, or your buyers were new to film.

It is not that they don't appreciate your money or your attempt. It is just business logistic. Their sales network is an important asset for them. It feed them money on a regular basis and not in a once in lifetime huge purchase basis. Selling small batches here and there will damage their dealers, since they will lose a sizeable market share, which is already small enough, so it won't make any sense to dealers (small or big) to sell film or will mean that they will have to raise their price it order to make business sense. On the end, it will damage the individual photographer that don't belong to a big group, which will have to pay greater prices for film.

By the way, I'm pretty sure the same could be accomplished by doing it thru a regular distribuition channel (your local film seller or a big company). Remember that you film dealer company is not evil, making itself rich, but a friend. I'm sure they can place a big order for a small comission.

Best regards

I think that tollcoating request was about having Kodak make a film again that had been iconic for photographers in America and in Kodak's range of products since the 30's. To our understanding, well what we know, it was not retracted by Kodak as it harmed their sales of their other films.

That would not have been viable.
Their loss, would have made them tens of thousands of dollars and made many many many people very very very happy.
They are my friend, Humbug!
I was just telling my dear friend that it is the way that it is and it is business, and perhaps Ali B might be useful to try to find an alternate solution.

When Kodak Alaris came on the scene they made a big deal out of saying they would make boutique on-demand coatings from their "vault" but they have never done that and don't even respond to questions about it. Now that they are owned by the Sinopromise it makes it even more less likely.

Kodak Alaris sold part of their business portfolio to SinoPromise.
As a result, Kodak Alaris is no longer buying chemicals and colour paper from SinoPromise, or selling chemicals and colour paper through SinoPromise, and they are not otherwise connected, save that the distribution arm of SinoPromise may be buying film from Kodak Alaris.

I really can't find anything to say.
In my country, it is very complicated and cannot be explained easily.

What seems to be the problem? Is shipping to Egypt not possible/very expensive?
Our story is very complicated, because of the security aspect.
Any film reel must enter the country, it must pass through two and no third ways. These are the laws of my country, and I am tired of trying to understand these unjust laws, and I cannot,
Either by a passenger in the baggage bag, in which case it is considered for personal use and it is authorized to enter without any problems (if its existence is realized in the first place).
The second way: buying from the Internet and shipping via express mail, and herein lies the biggest problem. The reel will be held in customs until it is presented to (the Authority for the Control of Artistic Works), and that body is supposed to have the purpose of examining the reel and finding out whether it is a A raw tape or does it contain film material, and therefore I am supposed to have the rights to that artistic product recorded on it, and this is in line with the GATT agreement.
- And if the reel reaches that stage, it will be forgotten unless you pay a lot of fees and a lot of time and hire a lawyer and customs clearance and so on, a very long story and it consumes a lot of time and money and I personally do not want to live That unfortunate experience again.
- Of course, in that case, the courier company contacts you and relinquishes its responsibility for delivering the reel to you and tells you, that the parcel is being held by the customs authority of your country, and it is assumed that you will complete the customs release procedures.
-- So I thought I'd get any help from a traveling friend or something.

So have Ferrania who seem to be struggling to make a C41 film have been able to make a slide film for JCH? Would that not require a total diversion of all their manpower and equipment and how much money might this cost JCH I have no idea how wealthy that person is but having seen him in a video basically promoting JCH it just didn't seem that he was rich enough to fund Ferrania

Have you information on his wealth? I am unclear if he is the wealthy part of the twosome and Horatio Tan the technical one or is the latter wealthy as well and funds part of Ferrania as well. Is there any reason to believe that JCH's wealth results in its funding being large enough to make it worthwhile to drop its ambition to make its own colour film and divert what I assume to be all its resources to make the Fugifilm?

It might explain why Ferrania has stopped communicating, I suppose. It might not look good if It were to admit it had suspended its own film making in order to work for JCH

Thanks

I know absolutely nothing about JCH, this Horatio guy, or anything about Ferrania beyond what they've said. I just dreamed it up because it sounded good.
