New Ilford film being Introduced

I hope it is an “old emulsion” film like Efke, but this is unlikely to happen..

This may not be the most appropriate thread but it does have a connection to new stuff from Ilford and I mention it because I wonder if I am going mad. Here's what happened. I clicked on Photrio earlier today and I'll swear that there was a new thread on Ilford announcing new paper. It had a link to what looked like the Ilford site where there appeared to be a new paper and I am sure there were several posts with comments or maybe I was the first to comment

Now a few hours when returning to Photrio this whole thread has vanished. Did anyone else see this and unless I imagined the whole thing what's the explanation? A joke that was taken down by the mods or deleted by the originator. The plan being to see if anyone such as me would comment, then remove it instantly and see how long it took for said "mug" to question his sanity.

If it was deleted does the site's data store the fact that a thread was started then deleted?

You didn't imagine it, it was there. The thread hinted at a new version of Ilford RC paper, MG V.

If you think Ilford paper is expensive, don’t even think about buying Bergger!
Not in my region. Ilford is about 20% more expensive than Bergger, for instance at Fotoimpex. Talking about fiberbased

Thanks. I am glad it isn't me going mad. Was it a genuine thread and if so where did it go? I can hardly believe that only you and I saw it. Unless it vanished presumably on purpose and very quickly I'd have expected a lot of posts by now.

What worries me about such links that get on Photrio which I clicked on is whether it has a nasty purpose behind it

I hope it's one that responds well to toning and other fun stuff, like lith.

For the short time the ad was visible, it stated that the new MG V was their best paper for toning. It did not say anything about lith printing.

It was based on a link.
That link was apparently posted in error (by Harman) and then quickly taken down.
As a result, the link in the Photrio post became useless.

Well spotted, pentaxuser I think you've solved the mystery of the '4th image' in the twitter post which had puzzled great minds, not a new film format, but new paper!

So 1 down, but as for the other three film formats (135/120 and presumably sheet film) the hunt is still on.

The lower cost option would be releasing existing films in new formats. Easier for sheet film with options e.g. Pan F plus/Delta 400 /SFX) but that leaves Ortho copy plus film as the missing format for 135/120.

More expensive - New film, so need sales volumes and pricing to justify them, so perhaps they are about to reveal FP5 or HP6.. or failing that a retro 140th anniversary offering.

OK panic over and thanks for the replies. I have raised the matter in another thread. I did not spend long looking at the link but did click on it and it has since raised in my mind the whole question of what safeguards there are on Photrio to prevent nefarious links on its site

I'll leave it there and ask that as it is not directly connected to this thread's subject we carry on any conversation on my/ you worries on the new thread

Phew! This missing thread mystery post took up most of today. Now, we just have to find enough material to keep this thread going for another 8 days. Come on! We can do it.

# me too! And I'm do for new paper soon.

With the minds around here, no problem keeping this thread going till release.

1 of the 4 is an update of existing product.

Whats the next 3 going to be?

Yes I saw the mention of the paper as a post.

But why scared of going “mad”? Links, pages, posts do go missing or get edited all of the time on the internet.

Your best and most destructive weapon is to screenshot when you see something that you like.

Yes, I'm talking about FB too. B&H is currently showing 8x10 warm Ilford (25 pack) for $37.95 and the Bergger warm for $44.50. Freestyle have the Ilford for $40.99 and the Bergger for $44.99.

The RC papers Ilford makes today are outstanding. For RC I use MGIV glossy paper with an old Ilford dryer.
I tone with Selenium, mostly just pumps up the D-max, that's why I like it so well, the Selenium doesn't change the color much.

I wouldn't mind that; better latent image life and available in sheet film!
+1

A revised Pan-F in sheet sizes would be my wish.....or......a 25 ISO old-style emulsion in sheets and rolls....of course with Acros' reciprocity behaviour.

Maybe they found the formula for Tech-Pan in the bins at Kodak?

On facebook I have been seeing a Pt Pd paper and chemisty kit they are offering.. is this it.
