Hi everyone, new here. Just to introduce myself; I've got a D700 and 5 primes, a string of compact F's and soms Contaxes, and the approriate assortment of period lenses. Tri-X mainly. I'll be visiting this subforum mostly, so this is where I post my introduction... :-D

Thanks! In my case, FM2n, FE2, FA. Any in that lineage is considered a "compact F".

I didn't know that. I use an F and a Nikkormat Ftn, with period (1966-1971) lenses. I thought there might be a shrunken version of the F I'd never heard of.

edit - I have the 20/3.5 Nikkor UD, 35/2.0 Nikkor O, 2x 50/2 Nikkor H, one 650,000~ and one 970,000~, 55/3.5 Nikkor P, 105/2.5 Nippor P (Sonnar). 1968 F with Ftn and plain prism, 1969-70 Nikkormat.

Welcome from a non-compact shooter (F3HP and F3THP) loaded with Fuji Acros.

Good shooting.

Yeah since Nikon introduced the FM first at that time I fully believed FM is short for Nikon F Mini (or Miniature) as they did try to make it smaller.
But then when they came out with the FE then may be FM stands for F Mechanical as the FE is F Electronic and then came the FA then I thought FM is F Manual vs the FA is F Automatic.
Now I don't think I know what they meant.
