As long as they keep making b&w films I'm happy!

(When Kodak changed the packages and names for films in 2002-3 we could still afford to criticize how bad the new design was!)

I find it reassuring that the logo still incorporates "film".

But the company name dropped "Photo" as a result of huge diversity of their range of business. Now Photo is a small part of what Fujifilm makes. They make films for LCD screens, etc. This is good for their business strategy although it doesn't sound as enthusiastic to film business. (But everyone should know that they released new films and new film cameras almost every year in past few years, including 2004, 2005, 2006, and hopefully it keeps going.)

Fujifilm makes money using all sorts of technology, chemical intermediates, and everything they acquired in the process of making photographic films, optical devices and everything. During WWII the better (though still crappy) of the Japanese fighter planes used windshield interlayer films made by Fujifilm. It was very similar to cellulose films and the company was ordered by the government to make all sorts of materials like this. (Ok, at that time, US fighter planes used plexiglass.)
