OK one question.. i don't want o upload any photos if they've been too digitally manipulated. here's what i do to most of mine, generally don't do anything more unless i'm faffing about:

Pre:
Shoot
Develop
Scan

Post:
Desaturate (as my scanner sometimes adds slight colour variations)
Levels
Brightness/Contrast
Shadows/Highlights
Curves
Smart Sharpen
Sometimes clone out dust if they're too visible.

Are those things in that list ok or does anything stand out as being "not allowed"?

Had just been there in April, Onich near Ft. William.
A dozen visits is full now.

The idea is to do the minimum necessary to match your print.

Or you can simply post your prints. There are a number of threads related to the disadvantages of just scanning your negatives. My original intent was to do as you described but the wise folks here have shown me the errors of my ways. Now (eventually) I'll be going the full analog route;
Shoot,
Develop,
Contact Proofs,
Print (and re-print and print again and again...),
Post.
Maybe this weekend I'll be at step 3.

I have been thinking about doing my own prints actually although i haven't yet fully justified doing so. Setting up a darkroom and buying all the equipment needed etc would take time and money, and it's so easy just do develop the negatives and scan and digitally PP.

I'll look into it though as i think it'll also help with the learning experience of getting a good photograph straight out of the camera, that's one reason i went film as i was shooting for Scotland with a digital and getting mediocre results lol.

This hobby is getting expensive!

Welcome from down here Kev. Prints are what it's all about - and they're no more expensive than inkjets (unless you start playing around with some of the more arcane things...). Many people post neg scans though - and while prints are preferable, negative scans are generally OK so long as they aren't over the top.

Thanks.

I've added two of my recent shots taken from the Isle of Arran, across the water. I decided to get the last ferry over and walked to Sannox from Brodick during the night. Unfortunately a freak rain storm and high winds came my way, all night, so i didn't make it to the Glen as it was too wet to take photo's and i was soaked to the bone. I came across one of a very few number of bus shelters so took shelter in there for a few hours. Took a walk again and the noises and deer running out in front of me didn't do me many favours so i headed back to the shelter until light came. Walked back to Brodick, i only got a few shots, didn't finish one roll of film.

So i have two shots in my gallery now which are fairly unedited. I try now to keep it to a very minimum.

At least you survived ok lol. Yeah it is a very nice walk up through Corrie etc.. although it was hard to see in darkness with no moonlight due to overcast. I walked up Goat Fell the weekend beforehand. Arran is such a nice place, much nicer than i remembered when i was a kid.. and i appreciated it then, too.
