Hi there,
I'm very glad to see people talking about this site on the Net.
Few hours ago I was reading about APUG in the RPS.org site and jumped here.
My name is Flavio and I live in Firenze. I shot since 1977 beginning with Olympus OM1-OM2 then in 1983 bought a Leicaflex SL2. I added a R4s one year later and a M4 few years ago, trading SL2. Usually shoot slides with 35 PA Curtagon, 60 Macro Elmarit, 180 ApoTelyt (R4s).
21 Super Angulon and 50 Summicron with M4. As lightmeter I use a Leicameter and a couple of Weston Master (V and 9).

Am I too long? Please forgive me, that's because I'm really glad to find you!

Love your part of the world having spent some time their while my wife studied stone carving from a master stone carver / sculptor from Siena.

I use to have images from the Palio on my web site portfolio. I need to get them back up on the site. I do have one image from Venice on the portfolio now.

In the last one you can even find some digital pictures taken with small Fuji (some of the rabbit ones- maybe the not so good as overall quality, its an old digital camera) and with a Nikon Coolpix.

When you use the "post Reply" button and not the quick reply, scroll a little bit down and you'll see this:

Notification Type:

It will be set to "Do not subscribe". Changing it to "Instant email notification" before you hit the "Submit Reply" button will do what you want.

Alternatively you can set it up in "My APUG" (top of page), but that's a little more complicated.

And welcome to APUG - I haven't been to Firenze yet, but it's on my list for some time in the next five visits to Italia.

Sorry: your English is so good I was too colloquial:

'puffed-up' -- self-important, overly proud of yourself, a snob (same word in Italian)

'ignoramus' -- one who knows nothing, an ignorante

Some people on the Leica threads have applied these labels to those of us who (like you) use Leicas. As you can see, neither other Leica users nor I take them entirely seriously.

I have been in Norway 3 times: 2001/02/06! I like your Country very much and am involved in the so called "Hessdalen Phenomena" Research (my field is in the Very Long Radio Frequency) in the Trondelag region. During our last trip we also drove from Trondheim to Bergen in an awesome mountain region. Wonderful, no words to describe.

I'm thinking to add an M3 ds, it should be great use a camera born in 1955 (like me I especially like mechanical camera, the slow photo creation.

Dear Flavio,

BE WARY of D/S M3s. If you are used to almost any other camera, and are shooting fast with the M3 D/S, it is very easy to wind on half a frame; press the shutter; miss the picture; swear for some time.

If you use any S/S Leica as well, the D/S really can be bad news.

thank you for your advise. Actually when you usually shoot with almost modern cameras, you may not be aware (nor thinking) what may happen with older machines. I did realize something similar when decided to go out shooting with M4 and Weston MAster V. Yes, I like slow photo but it is really slow. Then I understand how the slow photo may help to improve my "eye", my view and perspective and now I have to say that I like M way to shoot, so my R4s is usually in the dust.
Of course I cannot say "she" will remains there for a long time. Sometime I can clearly hear a "ring tone" in one of my ears, telling me about a strange thing called Telyt 400 f 6.8 (nick name: Grenoble).
No, nothing digital, yet.
