Good Morning!

My name is Michael, I live in Arizona & I'm rediscovering photography after a hiatus of 20 or so years.

My dad bought me a Minolta 101 & as a teenager, I stumbled through learning to use the camera. School, family, and work eventually crowded out my hobby, however. Now I'm re-learning with an old Nikon FG-20 a buddy sold me for a pittance.

Arizona & the Southwest is a great place to photograph; great vistas, lots of cactus, incredible sunsets, etc. I'm sure I'll appreciate it more when I've figured out f-stops, shutter speeds, manual focus, and the likes!

I appreciate my wife's love of digital media but I've always preferred film, especially B&W.

Hello to all of you, I look forward to figuring it all out - again.

Greetings from New Mexico! I lived in Arizona for 20+ years and loved every minute of it. You'll never run out of stuff to see and photograph. Welcome to APUG, and enjoy your re-discovery of photography.

Hello from NYC, right now, but also Tuscon P/T'er. Will be back out on the 29th for a brief visit.

You're absolutely correct that AZ is a great place to shoot - wonderful light and subjects of all types.

Welcome.

Arizona is where I learned the basics of photography, traveling around the state on my motorcycle in the early 1980s, fresh out of highschool.

You won't run out of things to see / do / shoot.

I'm not sure if this is my favorite shot from when I lived in AZ, but it is pretty unique: lightning over Phx, ca. 1982 or 1983 (I forget which, it's on the slide at home), shot from one of the open-air observation buildings atop South Mountain Park.

Again, welcome.
