Macodirect posted on their Instagram feed an announcement for a new 200-400 speed color reversal film called "Rollei Vario Chrome" see link:

I wonder if this is a repackaging of Aviphot Chrome (aka Rollei Digibase CR200, etc.)

I do notice that the box artwork says "limited edition"

We from PhotoKlassik magazine in Germany talked yesterday with the manufacturer. They are expecting their new films in the comming days to reach the warehouse. Before they wI'll send us a sample so we can test it.

According the discussion I had with them the film has a different character in colour than the former CR200.

Concerning the curling. Even if it does its not necessarily the same film. It could be also only the same carrier.

Concerning them the film is an ideal portrait film with warme colour but not comparable with the agfa RSX II.

We will check it and see how it performs. Maybe we can add some sample pictures in PhotoKlassik IV/17 Issue.

I always find it a point of discussion if companies are selling expired film as 'new' films

To find a good answer to the OP's question we should ask first : " Who is able today to manufacture new E6 films.?"
Ektachromes ETA is in the very near,
Ferrania makes a stopover in bw films.
Fuji is the todays candidate. But is the Rollei Film Velvia 50/100 ? Is it Provia 100? The answer is : Definitive NO !
So we might say : It is NO new film.
The next question is in concern to Agfa.
Is Agfa (Belgium) able to produce E6 ?
Last year I read an article that the production facilitys (plants) from Agfa Belgium doesn't exist any more........
So the remaining question may be :"If you have stored films (masterols) in freezed condition over some years - and today you find a way to manufacture these masterols with production date years before - via assembling : IS IT THEN A NEW FILM ?"
The answer oft his question is a decision of each of us.

with regards

PS : Manufacturers of film speak about
"Production" and we should realize it is "Assemling" in some cases.
That is a little confusion these days.
And it is complete new.Because in the past every new film did need indeed production via emulsion backing.

Swedenstahl what about the idea to talk with Ferrania about new bw films and to talk about new E6 films with Kodak ?
