Hi All,

APUG has been getting some decent kickbacks from various Ebay links on the site. When someone clicks an Ebay link, then happens to buy that item we get a tiny percentage of the sale. This adds up over time. It makes sense to have a new classifieds area where members are free to share their Ebay listings. The referral aspect of this ensures we are not being spammed with Ebay links, we can actually benefit from this. If you prefer not to see these listings, simply ignore the forum:

1. enter the forum

2. top right, click 'ignore forum' link near the top right:

Thanks!

A minor thing, None of the listings seem to end or are deleted.
Any way to delete them after a fixed time period from the time they're posted?

What a great idea! I'll keep note of this the next time I'm gear shopping.

I'd like to echo the complaint about outdated posts in the eBay subforum. As I poster to the eBay subforum, I think the best solution is to allow unlimited editing so posters can update or remove obsolete posts or links. (Currently, I can edit a post for a very short period of time—an hour or so. If I want to update the status of my posts or auctions, I must add a reply with new links, which compounds the problem of dead link proliferation.)

Unlimited editing is enabled for other subforms (e.g., the Free Stuff subforum), so I know this is technically possible.

So, forum administrators, consider this a request: Please enable unlimited editing for the eBay subforum.

Thanks!

IMO users should be able to delete any posting here at any time. The ability to edit old posts seems to be present and change the subject line tag to sold but many would prefer just to delete.

Deleting takes away the history of classified ads which buyers and sellers, myself included, review before posting new ads or buying. Deleting as has been discussed when someone left the website and choose to "take their marbles away" damages the collective knowledge of the website.

Leaving up sold listing for market research is understandable.
The first few posts though in this thread mentioned that fleaBay listings they tried to access were non existant [fleaBay removes expired listings after a few weeks]. Hence they wanted to delete the reference here.

Yes, it would make sense to purge the ebay ones after a certain time frame, will have to look into it.
